After multiple yrs working directly for owners, operators and investors in senior housing, Kymberlee created Hummingbird to provide support for those with a passion for providing quality care and services to seniors.

With over 25 yrs of extensive experience in operations, sales and insurance services, Lora has developed a strong reputation for bridging the gap between strategy and execution, providing tangible value to clients. Lora’s expertise extends to Property, Casualty, Life and Heath Insurance.
Amanda Pope
Claims Counsel & Resolution Specialist
Amanda utilizes her 20 yrs of knowledge as a former litigator focused on defense for clients in liability and employment matters, as well as her experience as in-house counsel for a sr living manager, to bring Hummingbird’s clients sound advice and recommended resolutions relating claims and regulatory matters.
Kevin Keefe
Director of IT & Business Operations
Kevin brings 10 yrs of senior housing experience to his role in providing the strategic IT direction for Hummingbird, which aligns with the company’s goals and objectives; keeping client needs at the forefront. Kevin oversees the company’s compliance programs and collaborates on the upgrades to Hummingbird’s proprietary Quality Assurance software, Trax.
Kyle Hoyer
Senior Insurance Services Manager
Kyle’s 9 yr tenure with Hummingbird makes him an invaluable resource to clients. Kyle’s manages commercial Property & Casualty insurance programs in close collaboration with Hummingbird’s clients and broker partners, providing stellar and comprehensive guidance and support throughout the insurance lifecycle.

Director of Client Services
Kelly’s 20 yrs of experience in operations and state and federal regulatory compliance, provides Hummingbird’s clients with a tremendous resource relating to compliance as well as HR, Safety, OSHA and claims. The support that Kelly provides clients, allows their staff to focus on quality care.
Jennifer Roy

Jennifer brings nearly two decades of extensive accounting experience to her role with Hummingbird. Her meticulous attention to detail and assists clients in understanding claim payments and provides invaluable support to clients relating to their self-insured or high deductible programs.
Melita Hobby
Claims and Compliance Manager
With over 30 yrs of experience in the senior housing and healthcare sector, Melita is dedicated to taking many tasks relating to liability claims management, off the plates of the staff of Hummingbird’s clients. Melita assists in the management of liability claims and focuses on HIPAA compliance.
Tyler Szwec
Data Analyst
Tyler plays a key role for Hummingbird’s clients, assisting with the management of data and creation of statistical tools to assist with analyzing Quality Assurance information and claims information. Tyler’s 15 yrs of customer service skills add to his ability to provide both internal and external training.
Maxine Simard
Insurance Services Support Assistant
Maxine brings tremendous value to the services provided by Hummingbird, relating to insurance services. She inputs, updates and maintains insurance data, while assisting clients in accessing key information. Maxine provides crucial support to clients, brokers and carriers, coordinating the gathering of renewal information, and ensuring applications are completed accurately and timely.

Risk Management Support Assistant
Hydeiah is the newest addition to the Hummingbird team bringing 7 + yrs of administrative and compliance experience for state and federal entities. Her primary focus for Hummingbird’s clients relates to compliance with HIPAA, while streamlining the release of records, and reporting of claims.
Kymberlee Dougherty Tysk
Founder & CEO
Kymberlee Dougherty Tysk is the founder of Hummingbird Risk Advisors and serves as President & Chief Executive Officer. She is a seasoned professional with over thirty years of experience in insurance and risk management, including twenty-one years exclusively focusing on senior housing and healthcare. Kymberlee has been recognized by Risk & Insurance magazine as one of the industry’s “Power Brokers” for Long Term Healthcare. Prior to her work in the brokerage arena, Kymberlee was the Chief Risk Officer for a large senior care provider. Kymberlee is a member of the American Health Care Association (AHCA), the Board of Directors Network (DBN), the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), and the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers (ASHRM). Additionally, Kymberlee held the position of President for the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), where she tripled the membership over a 2 year period. She is a licensed insurance producer in 15 states and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Lora Shaffer
Senior Vice President Insurance Services
In her role, Lora is instrumental in managing comprehensive insurance programs tailored to our clients’ needs. She oversees the strategic implementation of coverage solutions across various sectors, ensuring clients receive robust protection aligned with their specific risk profiles and operational goals.
Beyond insurance management, Lora plays a pivotal role in fostering new business opportunities and driving marketing efforts to expand our client base. Her deep understanding of both Property and Casualty, as well as Life and Health insurance, enables her to provide informed guidance and support, enhancing overall client satisfaction and retention.
Kevin Keefe
Director of Operations
Kevin serves as the Director of Operations, offering strategic input into IT direction that directly shapes business strategies for new and existing products and systems.
He is responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of our company’s IT infrastructure. Additionally, Kevin manages the Trax software, providing development, training, and client support.
His project portfolio includes Cloud Migration and Software Development & Implementation, benefiting both our organization and our clients.

In addition to his role in program management, Kyle oversees claims for both property and auto insurance, ensuring prompt and efficient processing to minimize disruptions for our clients. His commitment to excellence is backed by a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Ohio State University, along with recently earning an MBA from the University of Cincinnati with a focus on Health Care Administration (MHA).
